Online Giving Facilitates Support for Parishes During Pandemic
LEXINGTON — Catholics across the Diocese of Lexington can still support their parishes by giving online. Public Masses have been suspended in the diocese since March 16, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so parishes have not been taking up collections. Bobbi Silver, development director for the diocese, addressed this concern in a letter to the Catholics posted on the diocesan website.
“Even though we cannot be together, I ask you to continue supporting your parish,” wrote Silver. “Just like our home budget, the bills for utilities, for insurance, and for other operations will continue. If you are financially able, please support your parish. You can mail your gift directly to your parish or donate online to the parish directly.”
To facilitate this, an online giving page has been established to allow direct online donations. The full amount of each gift goes to the parish or mission, and there is no fee to the donor or the recipient church for this service.
“Our priests continue to celebrate the Mass, and pray for us; let us continue to pray and fully support them, our families, neighbors, coworkers and parish communities as much as we can,” wrote Silver.
